As per export statistics of Ausveg, Australia, we have seen a surge in the export of Australian Carrots exceeding AU$100m through supplied amount over 110,000 tones. Australia has welcomed the new consumers and appreciated the demand with responsibility to fulfill. Though overall Australian fresh vegetables export was declined 6.7% in last 12 months, there was an increase of Australian Carrot exports 7% in 2020.
During Pandemic and lockdown, we have seen that the restaurants, bars, pubs, kitchens etc. were all shut down and people were eating from home. Hence retail demand increases in many countries for carrots being one of the major dishes for dinners.

The projections indicate that world food demand may increase by 70% by 2050. Packaging and Transport of Carrots:
Carrots are packed in plastic bags inside cartons to maintain high humidity; shipped in refrigerated containers at low temperatures to prevent hair root growth. Cartons of 10kg and 25kg are shipped to the Middle East and 25kg bags/cartons are exported to many markets in Asia.
Storage life of Carrots:
Like any other fresh produces, carrot is sensitive to the temperature and humidity.
• Storage life 2 to 4 days: Storage at 15 ~ 20°C and 60 ~ 70% relative humidity
• Storage life 30 to 60 days: Storage at 3 ~ 4°C and 80 ~ 90% relative humidity
• Storage life appx. 5 to 6 months: Storage at 0 ~ 0.3°C and 90 ~ 100% relative humidity
• It is a recommendation for overseas clients to store carrots upon receiving at 0 ~ 0.3°C and close to 100% relative humidity.
